With country living, tree-lined streets and
magnificent homes situated on the edge of a
bustling metropolitan area, Coppell, located
adjacent to DFW International Airport, offers
the gets of both worlds. It may best be
described as a growing city in the country.
As recently as 1980, Coppell was a quiet little
town. It is still quiet, but no longer little.
According to the 1990 Census, Coppell had grown
341 percent since 1980. Projections suggest that
by the year 2020 the population of Coppell will
reach approximately 40,000.
Despite the population growth the city appears
to becoming more exclusive with the passage of
time. In 1990, the median household income was
$67,000. In 1997 that figure had jumped to
$75,486. Coppell is also a young city, with a
media age of 35.
While commercial and light industrial sector is
experiencing dynamic growth, Coppell also has
set aside 297 acres of developed and future
parkland in 14 park and recreational sites. The
Coppell Indecent School District is also
experience tremendous gains, with enrollment
figures increasing by about 15 percent annually
since the mid 1980's.
